Dietary diversification is a long-term and sustainable strategy that helps to mobilise the community to grow and consume different nutrient rich food all the time (Figure 17 below). It is an important strategy for the preventions of nutritional deficiency disease.

As a health extension worker, you are expected to encourage the family members to eat from different nutrient. Grow and preserve certain micronutrient rich food at all the time. This practice also involves other sectors like schools, agricultural extensions, health post, health centres. You have the responsibility to organise all this to do a horticultural demonstration garden area. This horticultural demonstration plot land is important to teaching the community and transfer skill on the use of vegetables and fruits all the time.
