Child Health Days are designed to enhance your outreach work as a health professional to provide certain key activities that contribute to child survival.

Child Health Days were introduced as a health-promoting strategy, initiated in Eastern and Southern Africa as an innovative way of delivering such a package free to all eligible children and their mothers. Reaching even the most under-served areas and targeting every child in a community, Child Health Days deliver cost-effective healthcare.

You will be asked to organise Child Health Days for your community. You need to have a good understanding of each aspect of the day, so it will run smoothly. You also need to be able to prepare detailed plans for your community. These will be communicated up to the regional level and will ensure that you receive the required support that you need.
