Reporting of priority diseases
Complete and reliable reporting of surveillance data throughout the country is vitally important, so that programme managers, surveillance officers and other healthcare staff can use the information for action. Priority diseases and conditions of concern are classified into two categories (immediately reportable and weekly reportable), depending on their epidemic potential and whether (like polio and neonatal tetanus) they have been targeted for elimination or eradication.
