Introduction

In study session V you have learnt about occupational safety in anesthesia. In the study session you have addressed workplace-related and personal hazards specific to anesthesia. In addition, you have covered the methods of control and prevention of different occupational hazards in anesthesia. In this study session you will learn about fundamentals of ethical standards and values in anesthesia. The study session will cover the general concepts of ethics, including the types and the major principles of ethics in the health care. In addition you will learn about code of ethics, the purpose and the code of ethics for certified registered nurse anesthetist. Patients' bill of rights and ethical issues related to patient's rights will be also discussed. Overall, the learning in this study session will help you to acquire all the knowledge, skill and right attitude to implement fundamental ethical standards and values in your anesthesia practice.
