Introduction

In the previous study session V you have learned about basic principles of monitoring and evaluation in the health care context. In this study session you will be introduced to the principles and concepts of quality management. The session gives more emphasis to quality management in health care. Understanding the components of quality and different models of management in health care, as well as, becoming familiar with the basic steps to measure and improve quality in health care will enable you to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills and right attitude required to manage quality in the health care context.
