Introduction
The impact of preexisting respiratory disease on respiratory function during anesthesia and in the postoperative period is predictable. Greater degrees of preoperative pulmonary impairment are associated with more marked intraoperative alterations in respiratory function and higher rates of postoperative pulmonary complications. Failure to recognize patients who are at increased risk is a frequent contributory factor leading to complications, as patients may not receive appropriate preoperative and intraoperative care. Respiratory system problems are many with common and different clinical picture, of which the surgical patient may have it with their surgical problems. In this session you will learn to acquire knowledge, skill and right attitude in anesthesia management of patient with pulmonary disease in general and particularly to common problems such as bronchial asthma and respiratory infection.
