Introduction
Shock, a state of inadequate tissue perfusion which may be caused by a reduction in the volume of circulating fluid, cardiac failure, neurogenic injury, sepsis, or a number of other causes. The danger of shock is that tissue perfusion (or the blood flow to the tissues) is severely reduced and the tissues are therefore damaged or die from lack of oxygen and nourishment. Surgical patient who require anesthesia may come to the operating theatre in all forms of shock which is a great challenge for anesthetist to administer anesthesia in the already compromised patient. In this session you will learn to adopt knowledge, appropriate skill and right attitude in the general and anesthetic management of all forms of shock as well as pathophysiology of shock will be discussed.
