In study session I you have learned about major maternal physiological changes that occur during pregnancy. You have also addressed the implications of these changes in the administration of anesthesia. In this study session you will learn about anaesthetic risk in obstetric patients and the general approach employed in provision of anestheisia for obstetric patients. In addition you will also learn the indications and contraindications of spinal and general anesthesia for caesarean section. Furthermore you will address techniques of providing spinal and general anesthesia for caesarean section. Finally the different oxytocic agents that are used after caesarean section will be discussed. Overall, at the end of this lesson you are expected to identify and administer safe anesthesia technique according to the obstetric client's health status.
