The Central Nervous System (CNS) is the centre of controlling our voluntary and involuntary activity. General anesthetic and opioids and some drugs act on the central nervous system. To understand the effects of sympthomimetic, sympatholytic drugs; body response to alteration of our internal & external environment; to realize the principles of regional anesthesia knowledge of the normal physiology of central nervous system is essential. In this study session you will learn the basic structural & functional unit of the nervous system (neuron), autonomic and peripheral nervous system. Therefore, you will have a back up to easily understand on pharmacology of anesthetic drugs, muscle relaxants and other emergency drugs. In addition, you will also learn about the effects of anesthesia of the CNS. Methods of assessments of the CNS relevant to anesthesia also will be discussed.
