Lower Respiratory Tract

Lower Respiratory Tract: The main bronchi divide into TWO branches, one to each lobe. These branches divide further into named branches, one to each bronchopulmonary segment. The bronchi are similar in structure to the trachea except that the cartilage is less complete (Figure3.5).

Bronchioles: These are the finest bronchi. They have no cartilage. They contain vascular, fibrous and elastic tissue (Figure 3.5).
