In this Study Session, you have learned that:
  • The current Ethiopian health care delivery system lies on a three tiers system.
  • The PHC units are in the primary level health care system. One health post serves a population of 5000 and led by two health extension workers.
  • The vertical communication of the health post is direct with the nearest health centre and the Woreda Health Office.
  • Any cases need to be assessed and managed further should be referred to the nearest health centre.
  • Follow-up of cases with common non-communicable diseases about the prognosis or deterioration of the condition, drug adherence, side effects of the medication and complications developed is important for early detection and management.
