The new health policy in Ethiopia gives much more emphasis on prevention and the health promotion components of healthcare that should be able to resolve most of the health problems of the population. The main features of this policy include a focus on decentralization, expanding the PHC system, and encouraging partnerships as well as the participation of the whole community in health activities.

Even though, decentralization approach of the health system is more emphasized on prevention and promotion rather than curative, focuses on the newly emerged epidemic due to non-communicable diseases is still neglected. Therefore; at the end of this session, as referral and follow up of cases is one component of patient management, you will be able to refer the detected cases with NCDs and conduct their follow accordingly.
