A billion people in the world, 15% of the 7.2 billion world populations, have a disability severe enough that it limits their participation in family, community and political life. Eighty percent of those billion disabled people live in low and middle-income countries, where often access to basic health and social services is limited for all citizens. However, the impact on persons with disabilities is more profound. On this day in which we remind ourselves of the situation of persons with disabilities around us, it is important, first of all, to resist the temptation to think in terms of "us" and "them". Instead we must remind ourselves that disability is part of the human condition: all of us either are or will become disabled to one degree or another during the course of our lives

In this study session you will learn more about: disability, how disables are rehabilitated, and the benefits of community based rehabilitation for disables in relation to psychological and socioeconomic aspects, and interms of improving their quality of life.
