Hypertension is a major health problem throughout the world because of its high prevalence and its association with increased risk of cardiovascular disease. The World Health Organization has estimated that high blood pressure causes one in every eight deaths, making hypertension the third leading killer in the world. Globally, there are one billion hypertensives and four million people die annually as a direct result of hypertension.

This study session describes about the basic concepts regarding to the assessment and identification of client's condition. After studying this session you will be equipped with the necessary knowledge, skill and attitude to assess, manage and monitor cases with hypertension.
