In this session, you will learn how to identify the sick child that need to be referred to the health centre or hospital You will learn how to pro provide pre-referral treatment, write referral reports and counsel the mother.

Most sick children often begin treatment or care at the health post and need to continue treatment at home. In some cases, very sick children need to be referred immediately to a health centre or hospital for an additional treatment. If so, you will begin urgent pre-referral treatment before the children leave your health post.

You will communicate and counsel the mother about an urgent referral, and you will help her organise transportation in situations where referral of children with severe illness is critical. In this session, you will able to identify a seriously ill child, provide pre-referral treatment, write a referral and counsel the mother to her child's referral.
