Summary
In this Study Session, you have learnt
- About fever in children. Fever can be the initial symptom of many important childhood illnesses. Every mother should be asked for the presence of fever on her child.
- The malaria risk area for children should be identified and ask about measles in the last 3 months. The signs for very febrile disease or malaria and complications of measles should be checked.
- Children fever can be classified based on its different associated signs: a very severe febrile disease, malaria, no malaria for fever, severe complicated measles, measles with mouth or eye complications, measles with those signs of measles or measles within three months.
- Children are treated based on their malaria risk area for fever and based on their complications related to measles. Children with severe and a complicated illness should be referred to the health centre or hospital.
- Children are followed within 2 days for measles and malaria. The danger signs are explained to the mothers and when to return immediately.
