In this Study Session, you have learnt that:
- Diseases caused by a lack or shortage of nutrients are called deficiency diseases and malnutrition is a condition where the body is undernourished or overnourished.
- Stunting (chronic malnutrition), wasting (acute malnutrition) and underweight (whose weight is less than it should be for their age or too thin for their age) are the different forms of malnutrition
- Nutritional deficiencies or micronutrient deficiencies can be prevented through intensive health education and nutritional education at all levels in different programs (the essential nutrition action (ENA), promotion of horticultural programs and diversity of food).
- There are ten demonstrable golden rules that we have to follow during the preparation and consumption of food for safety and hygiene purpose.
