In Ethiopia, the proportion of births that occur at home remains high compared to institutional delivery. Any pregnant mother is always at risk. Nobody knows what will happen during pregnancy as well as the mother in labour. Because of unattended labour and birth by skilled health care worker, so many mothers and newborn life have been lost. In order to reduce maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality, promoting institutional delivery will be your key task as health extension worker in your kebele.

In this study session, you will learn the very basics of promotion and communication of institutional delivery, factors affecting institutional delivery and approaches that you expected to follow to improve the quality of mothers and newborn life.
