When conducting ANC visit, check if the pregnant woman has symptoms that suggest poor nutrition in her routine diet. This is critical because poor maternal nutrition is associated with poor pregnancy outcomes, like a small baby or baby with short stature.

Focus on the following warning symptoms which include her food habit:

  • Desire to eat.
  • Stagnant, loss or overweight.
  • Weakness and general ill-health.
  • Sores, rashes, or other skin problems.
  • Sore or bleeding gums.
  • Stomach problems or diarrhoea.
