  • Breast milk is the number one source of infants' food. The main benefits of breast milk are the following:
      • It is ready-made and natural food.
      • It provides the best nutrition for the newborn.
      • It is easily digestible and efficiently used by the baby.
      • It protects against infection and other illnesses because it contains antibodies.
      • It is cost-effective and affordable.
      • It promotes mother-baby bonding.
      • It provides the mother as a contraceptive method (LAM) if she is exclusively breastfeeding until her first menstrual period returns.
