Introduction
Youth in Ethiopia, as in other low-income countries, face numerous social, economic and health problems. Youth is at a stage, in their lives, when they are exploring and establishing their identity in the society. They need to develop life skills that prepare them to be responsible adults and socially fit in their society. However, some youth does not get an opportunity to acquire life skills and consequently involve themselves in risky behaviours that expose them to social, economic and adverse health events.
Adolescence is moreover the period during which sex organs develop and mature and are ready for sexual intercourse. During this particular stage of physical development, changes evolve and trigger disturbances and strongly motivating feelings in the young. In as much as the changes make the young feel proud and happy, there are also feelings and conditions that confuse and frustrate them. This particular period is important for families and communities in general, to pay attention to the behavioural conditions of the youth.
