This study session focuses on and facilitates the learning of knowledge and skills to diagnose a pregnant woman. That is, you will learn about the presumptive, probable and, positive signs and symptoms of pregnancy including distinguishing the differences between them. For this, you need to take a health history and do physical examinations including laboratory tests to gather the information you may need to diagnose whether or not pregnancy has taken place.

In this study session, you will learn how to ask focused questions to a pregnant woman's to take a health history and together with the signs you observe, you will confirm the diagnosis and then give the correct and individualised advice to the mother to make pregnancy and birth as safe as possible. You will also recognise the importance of maintaining the woman's trust by keeping what she says to you confidentially.
