In this Study Session, you have learned that:

  • There are individual methods of health education like counselling---it is a helping process in which a person explicitly and purposefully gives his time to assist another individual to choose and make decisions.
  • There is also some common group health education methods like group discussions, demonstrations, role-playing/dramas, meetings, clubs, buzz group discussions and other traditional health education methods like songs/dances, proverbs, stories and so on.
  • There are printed, visual, audio and audio-visual teaching materials/aids in health education. Printed teaching materials are posters, leaflets, and flipcharts. Visual teaching materials include for example photographs or pictures as well as real objects such as various contraceptive methods (e.g. pills, condoms, diaphragms, and foams). Audio materials are, for example, radio and audio cassettes. Audio-visual materials include TV,videos and films.
