Refferal
CHWs should refer:
- All pregnant women who test positive for malaria with malaria signs and symptoms.
- All pregnant women who test positive for malaria even without signs and symptoms (e.g., during active case follow-up or mass test and treat).
- All children under five years of age with danger signs and symptoms.
- Children with weight less than 5kg body weight
Note: After referring any patient, a follow up MUST be made to ensure the patient was attended to.

Importance of Feed Back
- Feedback is part of dialogue and completes the cycle of communication
- It strengthens the referral system by creating mutual trust between two people (one who refers and the one who receives),
- It confirms that the patient reached the health facility and was attended to.
- The one who refers get to know the treatment given or whether the patient proceeds further to the hospital.
- It further helps the care giver in the community to be assisted following the advice given by the health facility staff.
- If the patient was malaria positive it assists the CHW who referred to initiate an active case response following that index.
