• Identify the common causative agents, modes of transmission and risk factors for the common acute respiratory tract infections (ARIs): acute otitis media, pharyngitis and pneumonia.
• Describe the clinical presentations and complications of ARIs, and the danger signs of severe pneumonia, and explain how these conditions should be managed.
• Explain the most effective ways to prevent and control ARIs, including through community education.
